We have never been the same since the day on which the voice of God overwhelmed us at Sinai.
A.J. Heschel, God in Search of Man, FSG, p. 167. I realise that this is a rather incomprehensible quote taken out of context, This is the opening sentence of Part 2 of God in Search of Man ( Revelation ). Considering we are on the eve of Shavuot and we will all be studying Torah, each in his/her own way over the next couple of days, I figured the quote can stand under these circumstances, nothwithstanding what I said earlier.
