Significantly, Jewish tradition, while conscious of the possibilities of evil in the good , stresses the possibilities of further good in the good. Ben Azzai said: 'Be eager to do a minor mitzvah and flee from transgression; for one mitzvah leads to [brings on] another mitzvah, and one transgression leads to another transgression; for the reward of a mitzvah is a mitzvah, and the reward of a transgression is a transgression. (Avot 4/2)

המסורת היהודית , לצד הכרה באפשרות הרע שבטוב, מדגישה את האפשרות להוסיף טוב על טוב . בן עזאי אומר : הווי רץ למצוה קלה ובורח מן העברה שמצוה גוררת מצוה ועברה גוררת עברה, ששכר מצוה מצוה ושכר עברה עברה ( אבות ד/ב).
