כיצד שוקלים שלטון, יופי, עשירות, גבורה ? בנשמתו של האדם טבועה הנטייה להעריץ את הדברים החביבים עליו, לכרוע ברך לפני כל דבר הנראה לעיניים כי הוא רב מעלה. זהו נסיון שלא כל אדם זוכה לעמוד בו. מה קל להיגרר אחרי הנוי החיצוני, ומה קשה להסיר את המסוה ולחדור לפני ולפנים (של הדברים).

How does one measure dominion, beauty, wealth, power ?
