להאמין בחרות פרושו להאמין במאורעות, קרי להאמין שאדם מסוגל להשחרר מעבותות תהליכים בהם מצוי ולפעול באופן שאינו מתחייב מגורמים קודמים. חרות היא מצב של יציאה מהעצמי, מעשה של אקסטזה רוחנית במובן המקורי של מונח זה.
מיהו אם כן בן חורין ? האדם היצירתי שאינו נישא על גלי ההכרח, שאינו כבול בתהליכים, שאינו משועבד לנסיבות, אנחנו בני חורין ברגעים נדירים...חרות אינו מצב מתמשך.....[ אלא ] מאורע

To believe in freedom is to believe in events, namely to maintain that man is able to escape the bonds of processes in which he is involved and to act in in a way not necessitated by antecedent factors. Freedom is the state of going out of the self, an act of spiritual ecstasy, in the original sense of the term,
Who , then is free ? The creative man who is not carried away by the steams of nececssity, who is not enchained by processes, who is not enslaved to circumstances.
We are free at rare moments...It is not it happens. Freedom is an act, an event.
